The Sports Initiation School (EIDE) in Holguín received a significant donation of sports equipment, which contributes to the training of athletes at the local sports academy.
The donation, mostly from Womy Equipment Supply B.V., based in Havana, Cuba, includes climbing ropes, landing mats, a vaulting drum, a climbing structure, gymnastic ribbons, a vaulting box, judo mats, tumbling mats, balls, trampolines, and other items, will greatly meet the equipment needs of this type of school.

Womy Equipment Supply is a Dutch company that operates in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM), dedicated to the sale of parts and pieces, as well as the marketing, rental and maintenance of large and light vehicles.
Among the main beneficiaries are ball sports, such as volleyball, soccer, basketball, and polo, as well as disciplines like rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, diving, athletics, and judo.

“The Pedro Miguel Díaz Coello EIDE and its Board of Directors wish to express their appreciation to Womy Equipment Supply for the donation of this equipment. Given the current shortage in our sports initiation schools, this donation will undoubtedly benefit the athletic development of various sports at this institution, which is approaching its 50th anniversary. Having greater availability of equipment, especially in sports like gymnastics—one of the disciplines that will benefit the most—will improve physical performance, help correct posture and inefficient movements, and prevent injuries in our athletes,” said MSc. Leticia González Pérez, Deputy Director of Sports at the school.

This action adds to others carried out by the company over two decades, in its voluntary contribution to the social, economic and environmental improvement of Cuba, further strengthening cooperation and historical ties between the island and the Netherlands.
