The Holguín Fishing Company (Holpes) was recognized with the Centennial Collective commemorative plaque for its outstanding productive and economic performance, which was presented at an official ceremony attended by the Minister of the Food Industry, as part of the celebrations for Fishing Workers’ Day and the centennial of Fidel Castro’s birth.
Union representatives highlighted the company’s comprehensive contributions, especially its high catch volumes from the platform and aquaculture, as well as its fulfillment of key export goals such as HG tench and elver.
They also noted Holpes’ ongoing investments to improve ponds, increase yields, and ensure safe working conditions.
After 25 years of operation, Holpes has strengthened its production capacities, diversified its offerings, and expanded exports, with elver as its main product.
According to its management, these achievements stem from a strategy focused on efficiency and sustainable growth.
The company’s success is attributed to the effort and innovation of its workers, who have helped restore profitability and strengthen the state enterprise.
Holpes specializes in breeding, catching, industrial processing, and marketing freshwater and platform species, including colossomas, carps, and cyprinids such as white and spotted tench.
