The University of Medical Sciences of Holguín is making adjustments to its school programs to maintain the training of doctors during the exceptional situation facing Cuba and to strengthen the health sector's priority programs.

The next academic period begins on February 16 and will take place in the students' municipalities of residence, using the university headquarters enabled for this purpose, as reported by rector George Augusto Velázquez Zúñiga to ACN.

The continuity of the teaching-educational process will be supported by the network of hospitals, polyclinics, and family doctor and nurse offices, with special attention to the current school year.

Additionally, own, optional, or elective courses linked to the Maternal and Child Care Program will be incorporated, prioritizing basic services adapted to academic requirements.

Among the measures, the week of February 9 to 14 is highlighted for recovering pending exams, emphasizing the importance of checking official channels and maintaining constant communication with deans and main professors of each career.

As part of the exceptional measures, care is being reconfigured in prioritized services, such as hemodialysis, where all patients will be admitted to care institutions.

Likewise, the province has multidisciplinary teams for monitoring infants and vulnerable groups, and ensures transfer to hospitals or maternal homes for pregnant women with gestational chronic diseases or residents in rural areas with difficult Access.
