Holguín is preparing to face the challenges of the upcoming school year starting on September 1, 2025, aiming to ensure quality education despite material limitations and the challenges arising from global and national issues in Cuba.
This effort involves transforming learning and promoting the formation of values in students, supported by the connection between school, family, and community, with a special focus on the role of educational institutions and the use of science, technology, and innovation.
Dr. Luis Felipe Batista Rodríguez, General Director of Education in Holguín, noted the irreplaceable role of teachers, who must develop capacities to build their own knowledge and face the challenges of teaching new generations.
At a seminar held at IPVCE José Martí Pérez, directors, methodologists, researchers, and specialists from the education sector, along with local authorities and student representatives, addressed key topics such as the use of artificial intelligence, methodological work, prevention, and political and ideological efforts, aligned with the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda.
The main priority will be ideological work, aimed at fostering critical thinking, ways of acting and expressing oneself, confronting pedagogical and cultural colonization, social participation, and the link between study and work.
This school year, dedicated to the centenary of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz’s birth and the 95th anniversary of Armando Hart Dávalos, will also require an analysis of the reorganization of the school network due to declining enrollment, as well as the formation of an emerging workforce to fill more than 3,000 teaching vacancies in the province.
