The Holguín Environmental Services and Research Center (Cisat) expands its services in this eastern territory, as part of the programs to contribute to the protection of the environment.
Wilder Carmenate Reyes, director of the institution, told ACN highlighted among the services, the ecosystem assessment of the coastal zone, one of the strategies prioritized by the science sector.
Carmenate Reyes indicated that this program allows diagnosing coastal conditions and influencing decision-making by local governments, taking into account the perspectives of sustainable development and tourism.
He also referred to the monitoring of beaches as part of Task Life, the Cuban State's plan to confront climate change, which includes the coastline, the volume of sand and the area of exposure to the sun.
These systems, classified as vulnerable, also benefit from reforestation with native varieties, the relocation of homes and state institutions built on the sand dunes, and environmental education actions.
Cisat promotes projects for the exploitation of coral reefs and the control of invasive exotic varieties such as lionfish and other branches, including archaeology.
This Center, founded by Rosa Elena Simeón, then Minister of the Environment, influences the resolution of the territory's problems, including desertification, drought, loss of biological biodiversity and pollution. (Source: ACN)
