The Historic Complex of Birán, the birthplace of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, was the setting to celebrate this August 13 the 97th anniversary of his birth.
The political-cultural gala was chaired by Ernesto Santisteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in Holguín; Manuel Hernández Aguilera, governor of the Province, Yanet Hernández Aguilera, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the UJC, along with other officials of government bodies in the municipality of Cueto.
In the celebration, the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution recognized the work of the UJC with the 30th Anniversary Commemorative seal for the joint work between the two organizations, while a group of young people received the card that accredits them as new members of the organization.
In the central words, Yanet Nasser Ramírez, first secretary of the Municipal Committee of the UJC in Cueto, evoked the legacy of Fidel for current generations and reaffirmed the commitment of all Cubans to the Homeland, the Revolution and Socialism.
The tribute in Birán joins others that come from different parts of the world to remember the life and work of one of the greatest leaders and politicians of the 20th century.
Fidel is the architect and the accurate leader of an extraordinary epic: the Socialist Revolution and the challenge and resistance to the greatest empire in recorded history, the United States, an event with transcendental consequences for the progressive movements of the continent and the world.
