The visual book "Gibara, a Magical Manifesto," by photographer Casey Stoll (one of the founders of Cinembargo Films), was presented this Thursday at Casa Gitana as part of the International Poor Cinema Festival (FIC) taking place in the coastal city.

The event aimed to preserve the audiovisual memory of the festival, pays tribute to its key figures through a compilation of snapshots that Stoll himself has been capturing since 2017.

This photobook, cretated by the artists as a historical archive after each edition of the festival, takes on special significance as it includes for the first time, the founding manifesto of Poor Cinema, written by Humberto Solás in 2003.

The work, described by the Cuban actor René de la Cruz as "an angel" who records every corner of the event, seeks to capture the spirit of cultural resistance that characterizes the festival.

The work is dedicated to the memory of Jorge Luis Sanz Garlobo, whom the Casa Gitana project team and the photographer himself considered a very special and beloved person.

The initiative, supported by the non-profit Copperbridge Foundation, reflects Stoll's deep connection to the place, which he described as "a home" and a unique space for art.
