Holguín journalist and writer Rubén Rodríguez González deserved the 2022 Annual Critics Award for his short story book "El año que nieve", published by the Letras Cubanas publishing house.
Regarding the text, for which he received the Alejo Carpentier Award in 2018, the author pointed out:
"They are realistic stories, small human conflicts in today's Cuba. It’s a book without fanfare, of encounters and disagreements, of daily pain and crucial decisions which are made without making noise.
The award, convened by the Cuban Book Institute, is granted to the most relevant art and literature titles published at the end of the publishing year, with the aim of encouraging the work of the authors, as well as that of the publishers.
The official delivery of the 2022 Critics Award will take place on February 15, during the Havana International Book Fair.
Rubén Rodríguez, who works as editor of the local newspaper !ahora! and the cultural supplement Ámbito, previously won the Critics' Award in 2008 with "Peligrosos prados verdes con vaquitas blanquinegras", by Gente Nueva publishing house.
