Cuban Government guarantees universal rights of citizens

Cuba celebrates today the Human Rights Day with greater access of its citizens to education and health, amid the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for almost six decades ago.
The Island is also target of a defamatory campaign in which the enemy try to annul the successes of the island, for example, in the field of education, something so elementary for people and that in many places they are deprived of accessing free and quality education.
The government, in the midst of the complex situation in the country, achieved that more than one million 700 thousand students started the 2019-2020 school year in September.
According to data offered by the Ministry of Education, there are more than 160 thousand teachers in the classrooms.
In the centers of high studies there is an estimated of 250 thousand university students.
The Cuban health system is seriously affected by the hostile US policy, as it is difficult to acquire medicines, reagents, instruments, spare parts for medical equipment and other supplies necessary for the operation of the sector.
However, the largest of the Antilles shows tangible advances in human rights, for example, in the care of people with disabilities, with the inclusion, development and equality of this social segment of society.
From 2003 to last year the intellectual disability in the country decreased by 10.4 percent, the physical and motor by 3.72 and the visual one by 1.16, reports the National Department of the Elderly, Social Assistance and Mental Health of the Ministry of Public Health.
On the Island there are national programs such as integral rehabilitation, care for people with visual and hearing disabilities.
Deafblind citizens with cochlear implants also benefit and there are technical aids for people with temporary and permanent disabilities.
Likewise, the National Program of Medical Genetics and the Strategy for the attention to Alzheimer's disease and Demential Syndromes, says the report.
In the specific case of hearing and visual impairment, 20 specialized low vision services were created, of about three that existed in 2003.
There is equipment for screening, diagnosis and rehabilitation of hearing impairment in the pediatric network and auditory research is performed on all newborns before discharge from maternity. / PL
