The Palmares Extra-Hotel Company announces the 14th Varadero Gourmet International Festival, which will take place from September 11 to 13 in the largest resort in the country, belonging to the province of Matanzas, to highlight those attributes that denote evolution within Cuban gastronomy.
Jorge Luis Acosta Paula, general director of the Palmares Extra-Hotel Company and president of the event's Organizing Committee, referred to the promotion of Cuban gastronomic quality as a fundamental task. “The objective is summarized in two key ideas: evolution and sustainability of traditional cuisine. It is no secret that this attracts customers who visit our country.”
The agenda for this academic event includes conferences, presentations, competitions and exhibitions, which will be carried out by academics and exponents of culinary art, as well as suppliers of products and services oriented to gastronomy, at a national and international level.
So far, 200 participants have confirmed their participation, including 12 national exhibitors such as Bucanero and Habana Club Internacional, 11 international exhibitors with Masoliver and Bodegas Torres and 10 countries will be accredited, among them Chile, Spain, France, China and Brazil.
Holguín talent will participate in the competitive cooking and cocktail events, which will be divided into 6 and 2 modalities, respectively.
The conferences will have as main themes the changes in cooking for its preservation, tradition and haute cuisine, the milestones that mark gastronomy over time, the teaching of culinary art and its role in the country, flavors, skills and modernity of the Habano Somelier in Cuba, among others.
The Varadero Gourmet International Festival functions as a cultural expression that includes the knowledge and practices transmitted from one generation to another, these associated with traditional processes of agricultural, livestock and fishing production.
It is an event where praising contemporary techniques, procedures for the preparation and transformation of food and beverages, as well as the act of consuming them in tune with the socioeconomic context, are fundamental objectives.
