Industriales Leaves on Mercy Rules

Holguin kept pace with Santiago and Las Tunas as they beat Industriales in two out of three games in Calixto Garcia Stadium. After an easy victory on Friday, 12-4, Saturday game starter Juan Alberto Cruz let a seven-run lead vanish in 2.1 innings and the blues trailed and rallied to finally win the game 14-11.

On Sunday, Luis Miguel Rodriguez made yet another outstanding performance, and this time he did count on solid support of 13 runs to beat the visitors on mercy rules in the seventh inning when Oscar del Rosario (4 for 5) hit a walkoff single that scored Adrian Duran from second.

Luis Miguel (3-6) pitched all eight innings and allowed nine hits, four of them on Industriales’ two-run rally in the seventh, with three runs. Besides, he walked two batters and hit another.

Selme Angulo hit a grand slam and Edilse Silva hit a two-run homer.
