Cuba ready for its First Sea-and-Beach Sports Festival

With 15 competing disciplines, the First Summer Sea-and-Beach Sports Festival will take place on August 6 to 13 in six venues along Havana’s coastline.

According to Project leader Pablo Hernández, the competition will include volleyball, hockey, wrestling, badminton, and sand soccer, as well as sailing, freediving, aquathlon, among other sports.

The closing ceremony will be on the 13th will feature a tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro on his 99th birthday, with current high jump record holder Javier Sotomayor as a special guest.

The Sea-and-Beach Sports project, which promotes the need to protect the environment, has been supported since 2024 by more than 20 scientific events and preparatory activities. (Source: ACN)
