The Holguín athlete Ulicer Aguilera won a new medal in his sporting career on Thursday afternoon in the javelin throw at Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Despite the pre-competition discomfort that prevented him from exercising, Aguilera had a brilliant day where he broke his personal record on two occasions, the last of which was valid for him to place third on the awards podium and also set a record for the area.
Aguilera, belonging to the F13 category, in his first attempt managed to throw the javelin up to 61.29 m, and then in his sequence he achieved the marks of 61.09m, 62.51m, 60.38 m in his fifth and last attempt as he was absent in the sixth throw.
Aguilera, a native of the Holguín municipality of Banes, was medalist in the Parapan American Games in Santiago de Chile last year with a record for the event of 61.11 m, a victory that helped him stay in the elite of this discipline after his fourth place in the last Paralympic Games.
Thus, the Cuban delegation is now ranked 24th with four titles, two silver medals and the bronze medal of Ulicer Aguilera.
