Italy dismantles international human trafficking network

Italian police authorities today arrested 14 foreigners accused of being members of an international human trafficking network.
According to official information released by various media, the police are looking for four other individuals members of the organization with branches in other European countries and Africa.
The operation coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate and the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Palermo was carried out by members of the Central Operational Service and the Mobile Squad of the State Police in that capital city of the region of Sicily.
Those arrested are charged with crimes such as belonging to a transnational criminal association dedicated to the promotion of illegal immigration and the abusive exercise of activities of providing paid services through the hawala system, used in human trafficking, among others.
