China rejects and denounces provocative purpose of US report

China on Wednesday condemned a report issued by the United States in which it accuses the Asian country of being a military threat, and denounced a misinterpretation of its defensive strategy and Washington's objective of instigating confrontations in the region.
The Chinese Defense Ministry said in a communiqué that the Pentagon's report on the country's military development in 2020 exaggerates that theory and is plagued with a 'Cold War mindset and a sum-zero game'.
China described the report as a new effort to interfere in the country's internal affairs, such as the modernization, budget and nuclear policy of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).
It also rejected and promised to respond accordingly to the US purpose of inciting antagonism and worsening tensions between mainland China and the island of Taiwan, which is considered an inalienable part of China. / PL
