ALBA-TCP in Solidarity with Countries Affected by Fires in the Amazon

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) expressed Wednesday its solidarity with the countries affected by the fires in the Amazon.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza published an official statement from this regional integration body on Twitter, which also reiterates the need for an urgent meeting of the Amazon Community.
It highlights the importance of the Amazon, which is home to great biodiversity, important watersheds and several native communities, who lost not only their villages, but also their livelihoods and the habitat where they have lived from generation to generation in direct contact with nature.
The statement also reiterates the need for an urgent extraordinary meeting of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) to analyze the situation in the region. / PL
