In recent months, a cloud of dust has covered several countries on the American continent. This is the so-called Sahara dust cloud, an annual event that occurs from June on to September.

Dust from the Sahara affected Cuba and other Caribbean nations with the highest concentrations of particles seen in the last 50 or 60 years.

The phenomenon contributes to accentuate the sensation of heat and, although it decreases the probability of rain in the areas under its influence, it tends to favor an increase in electrical activity.

It has the advantage of preventing the formation of hurricanes in the Atlantic because the atmosphere is loaded with very dry air that inhibits rain.
