In 2024, the year of its 40th anniversary, the Family Doctor and Nurse Program in the province of Holguín worked to improve the Family Medicine project underway in the country, with the purpose of raising the quality of medical care and bring services closer to the population.

The province of Holguín, with the largest maternity hospital in Cuba at the Vladimir Ilich Lenin Hospital, closed the year 2024 with an infant mortality rate of 5.31 per thousand live births, a figure that places this indicator among the lowest in the country.
