Holguín reports third positive COVID-19 case

The province of Holguín reports another positive case for COVID-19 among the 749 PCR samples performed in the last 24 hours, thus adding four patients in the last 15 days, one of them deceased.
The 22-year-old patient is a worker at the Shambalá bar, a recreational center where the other two cases of covid-19 were reported. He is currently admitted to the military hospital Fermín Valdés Domínguez in this eastern Cuban province.
According to information from the Provincial Health Directorate, the new patient is a contact with a previously confirmed case, which is why he was isolated in a surveillance center. He was asymptomatic and in the second PCR sample performed on the fifth day of the first one, he was confirmed as positive for COVID-19 with about 60 contacts, all under study and monitoring in isolation centers for contacts and suspected cases.
Regarding the event involving the municipalities of Antilla and Banes, Dr. Yanelis Calvino Vega, head of the Public Health Directorate in Holguín, pointed out that all PCR samples obtained in the last hours from suspects and direct contacts of the deceased reported on the 19th in the province were reported as negative.
In both territories, as well as in Holguín, outbreak control actions and active research are carried out in order to identify the source of contagion from the recent events and break the possible chain of contagion of the new coronavirus.
In this regard, isolation centers have been prepared for contacts and suspected cases of COVID-19, for their epidemiological and clinical
surveillance.
The complex epidemiological context in the province must call for the individual and collective responsibility of each person, because many people still do not comply with the prevention measures established and do not protect themselves.
We are on time with the conscious participation of all to prevent greater negative consequences caused by this dangerous disease.
