University of Holguín, another step forward against COVID-19

The University of Holguín prepared its Celia Sánchez Manduley headquarters to be used as an isolation center, due to the appearance of new positive cases of COVID-19 in the territory during the past week, after 100 consecutive days without reporting positive cases.
A note released by this house of higher studies, inform the measures adopted to give continuity to the teaching process of the faculties that reside on this campus, which began to receive people who are contacts of confirmed cases.
According to the note, as of this Monday, September 21, the students of the regular day course of the Faculty of Communication and Letters, who have not concluded the school period corresponding to the 2019-2020 academic year, will carry out the teaching activities at the José de la Luz y Caballero branch.
DrC. Isabel Cristina Torres, rector of the UHo, said that the isolation center created at the university headquarters has the support of a contingent of students of whom she recognized the responsibility to assume this humane task, not only here, but also at the Manuel Fajardo headquarters, the first to become an isolation center in this new fight against the pandemic.
Regarding the continuity of the school year, she added that teaching process continues in the degrees and years that have not yet been able to conclude their programs, which is developed in the José de la Luz y Caballero and Oscar Lucero Moya campuses, where the school period will conclude gradually.
She also said that from this Monday, the Faculty of Engineering resumed its usual activities after corroborating the negative result of a PCR performed on a student of that career.
“We continue to extreme hygienic-sanitary measures, including filters, the hypochlorite for hand washing at the entrance of each venue, the dining rooms, classrooms and residence, as well as the correct screening of all personnel entering the university, the use of a face mask and physical distancing”.
