Holguín’s nursing staff to support the fight against COVID-19 in Havana

As a sign of unconditional support of health workers to serve where they are most needed, Holguín's nursing staff left this morning for Havana to support patient care in health institutions of the Cuban capital.
The Florence Nightingale Contingent, made up of 26 qualified professionals, left with the commitment to stay as long as necessary and to be at the service of suspected or confirmed patients with the disease.
This brigade joins the other 83 colleagues from the 60th Anniversary Contingent, which is currently in Havana, one of the provinces with the most complex epidemiological situation in the country due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Yamilé Ramos, head of the Nursing Department in the Provincial Health Directorate, said that the sector personnel in Holguín have reaffirmed their value in the red zone, other health centers in the territory, provinces and outside the country.
Referring to the Contingent, she said: “The mission that they will fulfill in the hospital institutions of the capital constitutes a task of the first order for everyone, because it is to fight for the health and life of our people.”
The province of Holguín reports two positive cases admitted, a traveler from Costa Rica and a resident in Moa who returned to his place of residence from Artemisa, both are evolving in a stable manner.
Holguín has activated three Access Control Points to the province, the main one in Jagüeyes, municipality of Calixto García, the main entrance to the territory from western Cuba, and strengthens the measures to fight the COVID-19.
