After 97 days without positive cases for COVID-19, the province of Holguín reports a patient residing in Moa, who returned to his municipality on August 7 after a trip to Artemisa.

According to a report by the Provincial Health Directorate, this 40-year-old man was admitted to Villa El Cocal, where a real-time PCR test was performed, with a positive result.

At this time, more than 10 contacts of the patient infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation, while the source of infection is being investigated.

This fact should constitute an alert to all Holguín residents to redouble prevention, control and hygiene measures, which include the necessary use of the masks, hand washing, disinfection and physical distancing.

All travelers who arrive in the province from other Cuban territories have to remain isolated in their homes, with restricted movement and followed by the family doctor and nurse from their community.

Four people from the municipalities of Cacocum, Banes, Gibara and Holguín died from COVID-19 in that period, for a cumulative fatality rate of 4.44 percent.
