Holguín marks World Environment Day

With the incentive to maintain the leading position in the protection of natural resources in the different communities, improve the quality of life and seek development alternatives that do not compromise future generations, Holguín celebrates the World Environment Day this June 5.
The Provincial Award for the Environment, the highest distinction awarded by the Territorial Delegation of Citma, was granted to the Hotel Paradisus Río de Oro in the category of Production and Service Entity; while the award for research and educational entities was delivered to the Center for Research and Environmental Services of Holguín (Cisat).
The Meteorological Center in Holguín; the Community Center for Environmental Education (CCEA) "Río de Mares", Gibara municipality; the project "Support for citizen participation for environmental rehabilitation in Holguín"; the Community Center for Environmental Education (CCEA) Ecoarte, municipality of Moa; and Hotel Iberostar Holguín, Gaviota SA were also praised for the work carried out in the protection of environment .
The effective implementation of the provincial action plan for the elimination of ozone-depleting substances, through the use of environmentally friendly technologies, contributed to achieving this year three National Awards Free of Ozone Layer Depleting Substances in the province.
In this regard the outstanding entities are Hotel Sol Río de Luna and Mares de Gaviota SA; Brisas Guardalavaca del Mintur Hotel; and the Nickel Services Company (Esuni), of Cubaníquel.
DrC. Alejandro Torres Gómez, Territorial Delegate of Citma in Holguín, addressed the main environmental achievements of the stage, which under the motto "Protect everyone's house, take care of life" has been dedicated to the protection and conservation of biodiversity.
