Holguin and U.S. Universities Strengthen Bonds

Photos: Holguin University Facebook ProfileExecutives and academics from the Farmingdale State College and Geneseo Universities in New York, United States, are visiting the University of Holguin (UHo), in the north east of Cuba. The U.S. academics arrived in the Center of Higher Studies in order to sign a memorandum of understanding established in the recently concluded Congress Universidad 2018 and promote an approach between these universities.
The agenda, scheduled for two days, includes the visit to some branches of the Holguin University, study centers and exchange with deans and professors, with the aim of identifying areas of knowledge in which mutual cooperation can be established.
David Almaguer La Rosa, director of International Relations of the Holguin University, said that, at first, visitors were interested in promoting programs to exchange knowledge about mother tongues, joint research and participation in the major international events held at the Center of Higher Studies, such as Wefla and Scientific Conference.
After knowing on the different substantive processes, characteristics, structure, services and scientific work of the Holguin academy, the visitors commented on their institutions and expressed their expectations in the profitable relationship that will result from the materialization of a group of actions after the agreement established between the State University of New York (SUNY), which groups the network of public universities of the New York State, and the Ministry of Higher Education in Cuba, MES.
In this way, the University of Holguín expands its cooperation ties and establishes its first agreement with North American universities, which is one more step of rapprochement between both nations.In its half century of Science and Education, the Holguin institution has signed more than 170 agreements with 25 countries and aims to strengthen its participation in several international projects.
