Specialists from the Center for the Development of Agricultural Machinery (CEDEMA) together with the technical team of the sugar cane harvester factory “60 Aniversario de la Revolución de Octubre,” (known as KTP) of the city of Holguin, are involved in the assembly of a new cane harvester, CC model -5000-M to incorporate it in the next few days to the current sugar harvest.

The equipment is included in the manufacturing agreement established for about six years between the People's Republic of China and Cuba in terms of technical cooperation in the sideromechanical branch, through which about 20 machines of this type already operate on the island.

These means are designed by CEDEMA based on the characteristics of grass cultivation systems in Cuba and all its mechanical components are manufactured in the Asian nation, while the KTP is in charge of the assembly process.

The new equipment is undergoing technical adjustments in the hydraulic and electrical systems mainly in order to be validated in the next days in the cane cutting of areas of the Cristino Naranjo sugar mill, in the municipality of Cacocum, one of the five plants operating in Holguin.

Jorge Luis Herrera, director of the Business Unit of the Innovation and Development Base of CEDEMA, said to the ACN news agency that the industrial policy of Cuba is directed in this area of design and manufacture of sugarcane combine harvesters to enhance new technologies in mechanization by expanding the already known ACC-5000 combines, of high yields in the fields and feasible to be built in the country.

The agreements between the Caribbean Island and China in this area of the mechanical branch are encouraging because of the technical quality of this cane harvester model, its high cut yield rates and the durability of its components and aggregates.

CEDEMA, with more than 30 years of foundation, is an example of the productive chain programs prioritized by the Cuban State by providing with its design lines multiple technical services in different branches of the economy through the manufacture of equipment and means destined to other sectors, mainly for the processing of construction materials for housing construction programs.
