Members of the different fraternities in the province of Holguín vindicated the image of the National Hero of Cuba, José Martí, in meeting held on January 15, in the park of the city that bears his name.
Yoan Miguel Salazar, Venerable Master of the Respectable, Benemérita, Meritísima and Centenaria Logia Holguín, explained that Masons, Knights of Light, a representation of the Daughters of Acacia and Odd Fellows fraternity participated in the tribute.
“The image of Martí has been tainted with vandalism. To make silence is to become accomplices,”said José Miguel Viamonte, Master Mason of the same lodge, referring to the desecration of some busts hero of Cuban independence, on January 1, in Havana.

"For this reason, we came to demonstrate the patriotic and Martian position assumed by the different fraternal associations of our nation," he added.
At the end of the meeting, the call was made to participate in the traditional pilgrimage that takes place every January 28 from the Calixto García Lodge to the José Martí Park, in the city of Holguín.
It was also announced the historic-cultural evening dedicated to the Apostle, which will take place from 8:00 pm on the same day, at the Centenaria Logia Holguín, located on Narciso López Street, between Frexes and Martí.
