Gaviota Oriente elects direct delegate to the UJC Congress

This January 8, the Holguín young girl Ingrid Liset González Leyva became the only direct delegate to the 11th Congress of the Young Communist Union (UJC) of the business system of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), nationwide.
 
"It is an immense pride for me to have been elected to represent the more than 900 militants of the Holguín FAR Business System (...) I can only thank their trust," said the young woman, who since 2014 has been working as tourist cheerleader, at the Hotel Playa Pesquero.

According to statements by Maykel Pérez Valdés, a member of the National Bureau of the UJC, to the Cuban newspaper Juventud Rebelde, the possibility of electing direct delegates constitutes a prize of merit and was granted to 63 groups in the country for their relevant performance in the study, the work, defense and prominence of their youth.
 
In the case of the FAR business system, was selected the Gaviota Oriente Delegation based in Holguín, because of what the tourism sector represents for the development of the country and the comprehensive results obtained in recent years.

The presentation ceremony, held in the Multipurpose Room of the Playa Pesquero Hotel, was chaired by Yannara Concepción Domínguez, a member of the National Bureau of the UJC; Benigno Castillo Díaz, head of the Political Department of the Business System of the FAR and other authorities.
 
Ingrid González was selected among 33 candidates. She was born in 1991, in Fray Benito, community of Rafael Freyre municipality. Currently, she is in her fourth year of the Bachelor of Tourism degree, in the course modality for workers. On several occasions, she has been recognized as the best worker in the Animation Department.
 
The 11th Congress of the UJC, one of the most important debate spaces of Cuban youth, will take place in April of this year.
“We want to make a transformative congress, which involves us all: active, questioning, fun, responsible, consistent with the country,” said Susely Morfa González, first secretary of the National Committee of the organization, during the launch of the call on April 4, 2019, in the historical site of Birán, Holguín.
