The Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mrs. Maria Nedialkova Donska, held a meeting with government authorities in the province of Holguín, on October 23, at the headquarters of the Provincial Assembly of People's Power, as part of her tour of the territory.
On the eve of the celebration in 2020 of the 60 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the Balkan country, Donska confirmed the purpose of reviving the bonds of friendship that historically have united both countries, as well as to materialize various cooperation projects.

"We have taken into account that Holguín occupies a privileged, avant-garde place in the socio-economic and cultural development of the country, which for us is a very important area to assess the possibilities of jointly cooperating projects," she said.
During an exchange with businessmen of the province, the diplomat expressed the interest of her country to invest in a wide range of sectors on the island, such as the food industry, light industry, chemical, mining, mechanics, agriculture and tourism.
She visited the factory of agricultural equipment and implements "Heroes of July 26", the result of cooperation between the two nations, which was inaugurated in 1981 with the presence of Fidel Castro. In this regard, she said:
“We have seen the workers who carry out this project and continue to produce. We have also identified some projects that we can carry out in this factory.
"We had cooperation in the past and I am sure that we will also have a very fruitful cooperation in the future."
On the other hand, the ambassador confirmed Bulgaria's support for the draft resolution on the Need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. on Cuba, which will be put to a vote in the United Nations in November.
“We have confirmed that we are going to support the draft resolution, as we have done in recent years, because we think this blockade is unfair. In addition, its extraterritorial implementation prevents the development, not only of Cuba, but also of the ties that unite it with other countries, and this undermines international law, ”she added.
The diplomat joined the celebrations for the 26th anniversary of the Casa de Iberoamérica and toured other places of historical and cultural interest of the city, such as the Loma de la Cruz.
