In support for the release of former Brazilian president Luis Inácio Lula Da Silva, workers of the Dairy Industry of Holguín, Baní, collected their signature to join the international campaign “For the annulment of trials against Lula.”
Attached to the solidarity and principles of internationalism, they condemned the complicity of imperialism with the right in the region to discredit leftist and progressive leaders in Latin America and the Caribbean. They also rejected the measures against the Brazilian people adopted by Jair Bolsonaro, current president of the South American nation, who has tried to discredit the Cuban medical collaboration.
Since last year, Lula Da Silva has been unjustly imprisoned, blamed for crimes he did not commit and those who accuse him have not been able to present a single test against him. Given the proved innocence of the first president of workers' origin, a process of collecting signatures has begun in support of his cause.
Convened by the Cuban Committee Lula Libre and in charge of the CTC and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (Icap), the process will conclude on October 28, one day after the celebration of the 74th birthday of the ex-president.
Once the process is finished, the Icap on behalf of the Cuban people will deliver the signatures to the Brazilian delegation that will participate in the Anti-Imperialist Solidarity Meeting, for democracy and against neoliberalism, to be held in Havana from the first to the next November 3.
