Given the energy situation the country is facing, the University of Holguin adopted a group of savings measures that will extend until September 30.

According to the Dr.Sc. Isabel Cristina Torres Torres, rector of the House of High Studies, it was decided to keep teaching the Course by Meeting at the main headquarters and in the Municipal University Centers and Subsidiaries from September 21 and transit, gradually, to the semipresential courses in the Day Course in the remaining days of the month.

"To comply with the measures we decided to advance the research work practice in the careers that allow it, accelerate the delivery schedule of the school materials and guide independent work in all subjects" she explained.

In the case of fourth-year students who have not been able to certify the English language, they will attend the Celia Sanchez Manduley headquarters, for intensive training and exam application.

On the postgraduate course, she stressed, it will be adapted in correspondence with the characteristics of each program and the vitality of the research activity will be maintained from the individual planning of teachers and researchers.

Sanitation and cleaning activities are also carried out in the green areas of the four headquarters, a task assumed by the professors of the different faculties.

"We will keep the university community informed in a timely manner, through all possible channels, including the website, intranet, and institutional profiles and pages on social networks," said the rector, who pointed out the assurance of training quality and the rest of the processes, despite the energy situation that Cuba is experiencing these days.

The deputy to the Cuban parliament meant that these are moments of betting on unity, because together and thinking as a country, we can move forward.

Since the middle of September, the Caribbean nation faces a complex situation with fuel, due to the worsening of the U.S. economic, financial and commercial blockade on the Island, which has prevented the entry of ships with the fuel that is required for production and services, hence the measures taken in each state center of the territory, in order to affect as little as possible the residential sector, the largest consumer of energy.
