With the participation of foreign and national exhibitors, the city of Holguin is ready to welcome from October 11 to 27 the International Craft Fair IberoArte 2019 in its 18th edition.
The event, which takes place each year in this eastern city since 2001, will be dedicated to the textile demonstration and to the city of Trinidad in the southern center of the province of Sancti Spiritus.
The program of activities will extend to Gibara, where local artists and Trinitarians will meet to debate on topics related to the event.
Plaza de La Marqueta Cultural Complex and the Expo-Holguin Fairgrounds will welcome artisans from Peru, the main exhibiting country, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ecuador, India and Spain, in addition to the Cuban representation.
The event will host the cultural space El Lote, dedicated to the visual arts, as well as fashion shows, business rounds, decoration projects and workshops for children's creation.
Anette Rodriguez, specialist of Plastic Arts of the Cuban Fund of Cultural Property (FCBC), which sponsors the event, highlighted the varied program of exhibitions by renowned Cuban plastic artists, including Javier Guerra and Nelson Dominguez, the latter with the exhibit “Mi amiga Alicia.”
The works exhibited will be evaluated by a jury composed of prestigious artists from the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac) and the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS), Artisans and Artists (ACAA) and specialists of the FCBC, among other institutions, she added.
Other cultural centers of the territory, such as the Club Bariay and El Benny, will serve as scenarios for the various manifestations that converge in this kind of festival of crafts and Latin American art, which turns Holguin into the second most important commercial space in the country after the International Fair (Fiart) of Havana, in the opinion of Manuel Hernandez, director of the FCBC and member of the Organizing Committee of the event in the eastern city. / With information from the ACN
