educa a tu hijo 1More than 49,300 children from zero to six years of age are attended by the Educate Your Child Program in the province of Holguín. Yanelis López Batista, methodologist in charge of the issue at the Provincial Directorate of Education (DPE), commented that of them, more than 26,300 live in the urban sector and more than 22,900 in the rural sector, making it the largest number of Holguin children educated through non-institutional means.

Regarding the main advances of this program in Holguín, López Batista mentioned the completion of the coordinating groups at different levels and also the results achieved in the improvement of education specifically through networking (work between institutions) in the popular council Pedro Díaz Coello of the city of Holguín where they have signed working agreements with agencies and organizations, referred to in this process as "agents and agencies".

He added that "the incorporation of the father figure in the realization of joint activities and the incorporation of men as voluntary executors is also meritorious, as well as the advice and follow-up to rural areas and to the Holguin Turquino Plan".

Among the Holguín territories with outstanding results in the Educate Your Son Program are Sagua de Tánamo, Mayarí, Rafael Freyre, Báguanos and Calixto García, where the provincial balance was carried out last week. In a general sense, and in the rest of the municipalities, the work continues, with no setbacks in the province.

The Educate Your Child Program has an intersectoral character and its success also responds to the work of the executors and promoters that make it up.

In the province there are 1,541 promoters and 5,140 voluntary executors who are in charge of carrying out the activities of the program. However, more than 1,600 women voluntary executors are still needed to raise the quality of the joint activity and ensure better care for preschool-age children who do not attend kindergarten.

The provincial methodologist of "Educa a tu Hijo" also referred to the intersectoral work of the programme, since the actions carried out not only fall within the competence of the education system as leader, but also involve the alliance of other organizations such as the National Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), Public Health, the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and community entities.

Beyond the community, the Educate Your Child Program reaches the penitentiary centers and camps throughout the province. "This has been a very positive experience in our province.

Specifically in the penitentiary centers and camps we do the joint activities with monthly character and with the children the executors do it fortnightly. Without a doubt, this has contributed to the re-education of the inmates because not only women and men with children participate, but also those who are of fertile age," said López Batista.

He said that "the main challenge is to ensure the completion of the inter-sectoral voluntary executors and their stability within this program, which is related to the need to consolidate the work of the agencies of the coordinating group in the province to provide coverage of educational care as demanded by this population group. /Radio Angulo
