Inés María Chapman, vice president of the State Council, toured the municipality of Banes where she urged executives of the local Water Company to be proactive and accelerate solutions that minimize the negative impacts on the population of irregularities with water supply services.

As part of the government visit to the province of Holguín, led by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, Chapman acknowledged progress in both activities but described as not enough what has been done considering that the water supply cycles are still long, as there are areas where for more than 25 days lack this service.

Accompained by the national presidents of the Institute of Hydraulic Resources, Antonio Rodríguez Rodríguez, and of Physical Planning, General Samuel Rodiles Planas, Chapman checked other areas of governmental priority, such as the house building, which could give a favorable turnaround in the territory with the starting into operation of the Sandino precast manufacturing plant, which has been paralyzed for around two years.

She was also interested in the remodeling of social interest entities, such as schools, warehouses and doctors' offices, a process that also requires increased efforts.

The tour extended to the municipality of Antilla where the hydraulic infrastructure in construction and rehabilitation was in the center of interest of visitors.

This territory carries out a wide construction program that includes pipes, networks, a tank with capacity for 5 thousand cubic meters of water, among other works for the benefit of the tourism pole under construction and the population in general.

In the municipality of Holguín, the meeting took place with the subgroup of confrontation with the illegalities in matters of territorial and urban reorganization, where they insisted on the need to be more dynamic in the eradication of illegalities and systematic in the actions of control and prevention.

In the head city, there are more than 4 thousand transgressions associated with illegal neighborhoods -31 in total-, walls, farmyards and stairs, as well as land misappropriation. The vice president stressed that it is not about stopping the construction of houses, but building in an orderly manner and in accordance with legality.

In this sense, the president of the Institute of Physical Planning indicated to expedite the location of areas for the construction of houses to give answers to the around one thousand 500 requests of lands for these purposes in the territory and for which there are specific solutions, according to the information provided by Ricardo Suárez, president of the People’s Power in this municipality.

They also visited the provincial delegation of Hydraulic Resources where they assessed the quality of the rehabilitation works on the three water treatment plants of the provincial capital.

The impact of the East-West water transfer works on agricultural production, which still does not reach the expected results, was also evaluated.
