Holguin Opens E-commerce Center

The San Jose unit, belonging to Tiendas Caribe chain, will be the first in the province of Holguin to start the electronic commerce in national currency from next May, when customers can access a website and make online purchases from anywhere in this northeastern Cuban territory.
Those interested in this type of operation, once the service is open, will be able to request the goods at home or buy them and then go to the establishment to make the acquisition effective, said Elisabeth Reyes Velázquez, general manager of the Tiendas Caribe chain in Holguin.
In this way, this territory will be the third in Cuba, after Havana and Villa Clara, to implement this new commercial system to the domestic market.
So far that agency has the experience of purchases from abroad through "La Luz de Yara" for customers who wish to buy different types of merchandise from their respective countries for their relatives in the province.
Luis Miguel Calero, head of the Department of Commerce of that entity, said that today buyers from more than 30 countries carry out operations online through www.enviocuba.ca/LuzYara and the service is provided here in 72 hours.
