These workers also donated objects, clothing and more than 5,000 pesos for the victims of the Tornado that hit Havana on January 27th.

These contributions of the workers of the leisure industry in the eastern territory, were praised during the provincial ceremony for the Day of the Worker of the Hotel and Tourism held in Villa El Bosque, chaired by Arelis Marrero Guerrero, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

The ceremony served to recognize the workers with 25 or more years of uninterrupted service in this sector, with the distinction Elpidio Sosa Gonzalez, martyr of the Union and one of the fallen heroes in the assault on the Moncada barracks on July 26, 1953.
The distinction El Criollito was also awarded to Luis Ortega Batallan, for his results in the organization, while a tribute was paid to the Hindu-Canadian Norman Karkada, an entrepreneur based in Holguin, for his loyalty to "El Bosque".

Karelia Fernandez Perez, general secretary of the SNTHT in the province said that more than 4,580 members of the Union, distributed in 112 union sections, are committed to increase quality and efficiency in the provision of services, as a way to contribute to the Cuban economy.

In the closing speech, Luis Enrique Zaldivar, director of the Isla Azul business group in the province, highlighted the work developed by the staff of Villa El Bosque, for being the one with the highest economic growth in 2018, while acknowledging the efforts made by the Miraflores hotels, in Moa; Don Lino, in "Rafael Freyre" and the Mirador de Mayabe, a world-famous facility.
