Skilled Workers and Technicians, a Priority for the Educational Sector

The training of skilled workers and technicians, in correspondence with the needs of the economic and social development of Holguín, is included today within the priorities of the Education sector in the northeastern territory.
Lina Margarita Ramírez, deputy director of Technical and Vocational Education (ETP) in the province, said that education has 36 centers distributed throughout the country with approximately 700 annexed classrooms.
She indicated that through this program more than 16,000 students are trained in various specialties in the current school year related to skilled workers and middle level technicians, including geodesy and cartography, light industry, services, construction, agro-industry and mechanics.
To address the student, she said, the sector has a staff of over 2,800 workers, both teachers and the very entities of the branches where technical professionals are trained.
The Technical and Vocational Education, developed with the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the nationalization of Education, has as its social purpose, to guarantee the training of the labor force needed by all sectors of the country's economy, an issue that requires special attention and assistance.
