"We hope that these days participants can exchange and learn more about the culture of our people," said Eduardo Rafael Ávila Rumayor, President of the Organizing Committee for the 24th Ibero-American Culture Festival, during the opening of the 13th Ibero-American Congress of Thought started on 25th of October in the city of Holguín.
Rumayor thanked the participation of speakers from Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Bolivia and Venezuela and invited the intellectuals to join in future editions.
The opening conference "Cuba and its economy in the new times, challenges and perspectives" was in charge of the Dr. in Economic Sciences Juan Triana Cordoví.
The lack of investment, tourism and public health as important sectors of the economy and the decrease of imports were some of the issues addressed by Cordoví.
His lecture preceded the presentation of the research of the participants in the contest. The prizes will be awarded this October 26.
