Early childhood care in Holguín is being strengthened through strategies aimed at promoting the comprehensive development of children, with emphasis on those in vulnerable situations and in non-institutional settings.
More than eight thousand children are enrolled in daycare centers and small childcare homes, where educational activities are prioritized to assess and prepare them for a successful transition to primary education with the necessary skills.
Among the main innovations are educational projects and the introduction of English language instruction, as part of the Third Improvement of the sector. These initiatives also reach communities through the “Educate Your Child” program, present in all local councils across the province.
The actions extend to specific contexts such as homes for children without parental care and primary schools that include six-year-olds, where a new curriculum and updated assessments are being implemented. In addition, methodological guidance is provided to private caregivers to ensure educational quality.
The program is supported by organizations such as the Federation of Cuban Women, as well as state institutions and international projects, especially UNICEF, and promotes values in children through initiatives linked to the study of national history and important figures. (Source: ACN)
