In Holguín, the relocation of students from Technical and Professional Education (ETP) to nearby production and service entities boosts their job training and strengthens ties to local socioeconomic development.

This initiative addresses the energy contingency caused by illegal U.S. actions against Cuba, ensuring school continuity and easing transportation issues to distant centers.

Taimí Espinosa González, ETP methodologist at the General Directorate of Education, told ACN that the province, with over 10,000 youths in 33 institutions, has decentralized teaching to local polytechnics, pre-university schools, and other centers, prioritizing rural or vulnerable students based on territorial availability.

Through study guides, worksheets, and links with production organizations, specific professional skills tailored to each area are developed.

Ana María Góngora, a Telecommunications student, expressed satisfaction with practicing at the local Technology Center, which complements theory with dynamic experience and simplifies travel.

For 58 youths in isolated areas without connectivity, materials are provided along with home visits by teachers for direct support and assessments. Curricular adjustments, practical evaluations, and seminars are applied, with complementary content closed over 70% for the first two years.

The methodologist stated that mobile technology supports these measures with remote teaching and constant communication among teachers, students, and families, showcasing the flexibility and commitment of Holguín's education system amid current challenges. (Source: ACN)
