Over 50 science and innovation projects underway in Holguín

The province of Holguín is promoting more than 50 science and innovation projects focused on priority areas for the economic and social development of this eastern region, which hosted the national event for Cuban Science Day.
The main themes include sustainable agri-food production, energy transformation, and public administration management, explained Alejandro Gómez Torres de Cádiz Hernández, the sector's delegate in the province.
He specified that environmental topics are also included, such as the sustainable development of mountain areas, the utilization of mineral resources, the impact of climate change, smart tourism, and improving the quality of life in rural communities.
He noted that the province participates in certification processes, patent management, and the completion of research cycles, in collaboration with companies and universities at the national and international levels.
On the other hand, the social sciences and humanities are prioritizing the development of scientific talent through a comprehensive program linked to universities, Gómez commented.
Holguín also boasts other achievements in the sector, such as the establishment of the Technical Advisory Council, the only one of its kind in Cuba, whose main advances include the introduction of genetically modified seeds into agriculture.
