Dr. María Onelia Urbina Reynaldo, a civil engineer and researcher from Holguín, has been awarded the prestigious UPADI Vector de Oro Engineering Teaching Prize by the Pan American Unit of Engineering Associations.
This recognition highlights her outstanding career, technical contributions, leadership in education, and efforts to strengthen engineering in Cuba and the Americas.
It is a recognition that transcends the individual; it is a tribute to Cuban engineering and to women in engineering, a traditionally male-dominated profession.
Since the Gold Vector Award went to a civil engineer dedicated to regulations and academia reinforces UPADI's commitment to the most fundamental aspects of the profession and to public safety.
Dr. María Onelia is also President of the National Union of Architects and Construction Engineers of Cuba (UNAICC) in Holguín, further solidifying her influence as guild leader.
