Agricultural insurance benefits food production in Holguín

Holguín is working in the implementation of an agricultural insurance with the aim of protecting crops against intense weather phenomena, common between June and November.
Rolando Iglesias Montero, director of the Unidad Empresarial de Base Seguros Holguín, highlighted to ACN that this service benefits cooperatives and basic cooperative production units, depending on the agreements made.
He pointed out that in municipalities such as Sagua de Tánamo, Banes, Báguano and Mayarí, coffee and grain crops are protected with an investment of approximately 12 million pesos.
Iglesias Montero explained that this insurance facilitates access to bank loans to boost agricultural production, guaranteeing crop preservation against natural disasters and other losses.
He added that it also promotes the diversification of production lines and increases harvests in different agricultural seasons.
Other types of insurance are also encouraged in Holguín, such as life, fire, and professional driver policies, as well as civil liability insurance to cover damages from traffic accidents, especially in companies and state organizations. (Source: ACN)
