Holguín educators celebrate achievements in 2024

As part of the celebrations for the Teacher's Day on December 22, the General Directorate of the sector in Holguín showed the results achieved in 2024, among which is the progress in the construction of schools and children's houses.
Luis Felipe Batista Rodríguez, provincial director of education, informed ACN that in the current year, workers in the sector have obtained pedagogical, social and scientific achievements that demonstrate their important role in society.
Batista highlighted among these achievements, the repair of 48 educational institutions as part of the strategy of neighborhoods in transformation, the materialization of constructive actions in 37 centers and the progress in the development plan for children's houses, with 22 premises created and six projected for 2025.
In addition, about 20 research, development and innovation projects are being carried out in the territory with the aim to transform the educational reality, seven of which have international funding. Also opportunities for professional development through doctoral, master's and categorization programs are prioritized, he said.
In terms of school self-sufficiency, actions were carried out promote Food Sovereignty, such as the use of more than 400 hectares of land in agricultural cultivation and the creation of vegetable gardens in small areas, he said.
The province of Holguín has the largest school network in the country, with more than 1,330 centers, including 65 daycare centers, 28 special schools, four homes for children without family support and about 130 institutions located in the Turquino Plan, which is why teachers are a fundamental pillar in the training of future professionals.
