With the arrival of a flight from Bratislava to Frank País International Airport, operated by the airline World2Fly, the Holguín destination was connected to Slovakia through the tour operator Der Touristik, which last November began operations to this northeastern province from Prague, Czech Republic.
Aircraft 330-300 arrived at the terminal after two in the afternoon on Tuesday, December 17, with more than 270 tourists, thus inaugurating this new air route.
Edilberto Riverón, a sales representative for Gaviota Tourist Group, said that these visitors are expected to stay in several hotels in the Holguín area and in Ramón de Antilla, where there are two new high-comfort facilities in operation.
He explained that flights from Bratislava to Holguín will be operated once a week until March and their arrival will take place every Tuesday.
Riverón specified that this flight, together with the existing operation from Prague, is very novel for the high winter season in Holguín, because for the first time they have clients from the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Referring to the current winter season, he said that despite starting a little slow, it has already been strengthening as the days go by, so they expect the arrival of more flights and clients from December.
He commented that Canada remains the main source of tourists to this destination, followed by Germany, Italy and now these flights from Prague and Slovakia.
"Currently there are about 39 weekly tourist operations for the Holguín destination," he concluded.
