With the aim to facilitate the transfer of students and teachers to institutions located in communities of the Turquino Plan in Holguín, the subsidiary of the School Transportation Company in this province guarantees the availability of means and fuel, despite the current difficulties faced by the sector.
Elder Marrero Nogueira, director of the entity in the province, told ACN that with the aim to ensure the teaching process through the transportation of those involved in it, they provide services to educational centers located in mountainous areas.
He added that the initiative includes the municipalities of Sagua de Tánamo, Mayarí, Frank País, Cueto and Moa, where they currently work to prioritize the operation of four trucks with optimal conditions capable of guaranteeing safe mobility in difficult to access areas, he noted.
Likewise, the company ensures the transfer of scholarship students during incorporation into the classrooms and in the passing period to remote schools, such as Calixto García School City. and the Military Vocational School Camilo Cienfuegos in the city of Holguín, he commented.
Marrero Nogueira added that this mission is harmed by the fuel shortage and the difficulties in acquiring parts and pieces in foreign markets worsened by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed to Cuba by the United States , which would allow raising the coefficient of technical availability of the entity, so far 66 percent.
The Program of Attention to the Comprehensive Development of the Mountain Regions, created more than 37 years ago, is applied in around 23 percent of the northeastern territory in which a large group of socioeconomic organizations contribute with the objective of improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of these areas.
