Holguín museums offer summer activities

The museums of the province of Holguín offer a wide summer program, with the aim to promote the formation of values and the preservation of customs and traditions.
The program of activities include guided visits, book presentations and the screening of audiovisual materials, focused primarily on adolescents and young people.
Sites such as the Birthplace of Major General Calixto García, the House of the Lieutenant Governor and the Provincial History Museum La Periquera, also include the presentation of interest circles in vulnerable neighborhoods.
Rosabel Reyes, a specialist in this field, pointed out that these meetings are part of the healthy recreation options and aim to contribute to the teaching of history and expand the offers for family enjoyment.
She highlighted that collections of aboriginal objects of great heritage value are also presented to the public, which also bring visitors closer to the pre-Columbian history of the town.
The exhibits also display the lives of heroes and martyrs, musical scores, documents from before the 19th century and objects representing the region's customs.
Holguín has more than 300 heritage buildings and sites, 100 of which correspond to the system of plazas in the provincial capital, known as the Cuban city of parks.
