Iberostar Hotel in Holguín revalidates environmental certificate

The Iberostar Selection Holguín hotel revalidated the international Earth Check certification for environmental practices that this Spanish chain has implemented since 2020.
This facility, as well as the Iberostar Gran Packard, Iberostar Grand Trinidad and Iberostar Selection Varadero hotels, awarded with the prestigious endorsement, ratified in the silver category, defend environmental policies that in addition to conforming to the sustainable development objectives of the United Nations, comply with the legislation in force in the place where they operate.
Alexei Torres Velázquez, marketing director of Iberostar Cuba Hotels & Resorts, commented to ACN that this recognition, conferred by the world's leading group in research, evaluation and certification for sustainable tourism destinations and organizations, based in Australia, supports practices environmental issues in the global travel and tourism industry.
This certification must be revalidated annually through on-site audits and it is not until the fifth year that you can opt for the gold badge, and up to 15 years to aspire to the platinum badge, after demonstrating the long-term commitment of international organizations, added the executive.
Torres Velázquez noted that the oceans are home to a large part of the biological diversity, which is why a series of measures have been implemented in all the group's hotels to minimize the use of single-use plastics, which is why they are used in the rooms more environmentally friendly resources, for example, wood.
Iberostar Cuba Hotels & Resorts manages 20 hotels on the island, and promotes the creation of spaces to encourage good recycling practices among its clients.
