Contributions to import substitution programs stand out among the results of the Inejiro Asanuma Spinning Mill, in the municipality of Gibara, Holguín province, a leading industry in textile production in eastern Cuba.

Iosvany Segura Leyva, technical director of this entity, told ACN that one of the specific examples is the manufacture of the plastic spool of the core of the ball of 100 percent cotton thread, the company's main line.

He said that these components have an approximate cost of 80 euro cents in the international market and are currently made in one of the workshops with recycled materials.

Segura Leyva also explained that these cones are reusable, which contributes to the country's economic savings and reduces the production costs of the industry, located about 30 kilometers from the Cuban city of parks.

In addition, the vitality of the machinery is maintained through the exchange of foreign spare parts for Cuban alternatives, including the replacement of belts with chains and the manufacture of filters.

The Spinning Mill also diversifies its work with the production of other lines such as pillows, multipurpose cloths, spring mattresses, mopping blankets, resulting from the use of surpluses, he indicated.

Since its founding on May 21, 1961, Inejiro Asanuma has expanded its manufacturing to reach 23 items in textile manufacturing, non-woven elements, mattress and plastic production workshops.

The factory was benefited in 2018 with modern technology, which allows the yarns to compete with similar imported ones, contributing to the country's economic savings in sectors such as tourism. (Source: ACN)
