The province of Holguín promotes habitat and urban planning programs as part of strategies to improve the quality of life in communities and develop key sectors of the economy.

César Paterson Rodríguez, delegate of the Institute of Territorial and Urban Planning (Inotu), told ACN that the projects include the creation of outdoor recreational areas, the technical analysis of homes and the improvement of health conditions.

He added the elimination of construction illegalities, which exceeded four thousand in the year 2023, and the relocation of houses in danger zones such as the sand dunes or the coast, threatened by the effects of global warming are also covered in the project.

Paterson referred to the housing policies taking into account factors such as sustainable land use and benefits to vulnerable sectors and populations, included in the social programs of the Cuban Revolution.

These actions correspond to the agenda of the United Nations Organization, regarding the sustainable development of urban and rural settlements, with which the largest of the Antilles has been committed since 2013.

The Inotu in Holguín also dedicates its work to other key aspects, among them, the legalization and promotion of self-made construction, the protection of the environment and the fulfillment of the Life Task, the Cuban State's plan to confront climate change. (Source: ACN)
