A new ice cream factory will soon come into operation in the municipality of Gibara as a long-standing desire of its inhabitants and the result of the strategies implemented for local development aimed from food production.

The modern plant, with Italian technology, result of international cooperation with the Articulated Platform for Comprehensive Territorial Development (Padit), will achieve the link between a mini-industry producing fruit pulp and a project carried out by the Inejiro Asanuma Spinning Mill, which will ensure the needs of packaging and plastic containers demanded by the nascent industry.

Jorge Ángel Salermo Silva, director of the entity, commented to ACN that the factory, after completing its technological testing stage, will be able to produce around 360 liters of ice cream daily, in a variety of presentations ranging from ice pops and 250 milliliter pots up to four liter containers.

Salermo said that the main objective is to provide services to the population in the ice cream parlor itself but due to the high levels of efficiency of the installed technology, as well as to reach Commerce and Gastronomy establishments, Health and Education institutions, day care centers and nursing homes.

For his part, Andrés Ricardo Rivas, president of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power, explained that it seeks to link all forms of management based on the endogenous potential that exists in the territories capable of satisfying the basic needs of the population, included in the municipal development strategy.
Gibara, located north of the head city, was recognized by the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba on the occasion of the celebrations for July 26 in Holguín, after achieving positive results in food production and basic services. (Source: ACN)
